Drilling costs represent a major component in a company portfolio. Yet, well losses due to wellbore instability severely compromise companies profit, and a design tool to maintain a stable well naturally become crucial in the company economic plans. To reach a maximum production, open hole design is always desirable. Stability in various field conditions can be achieved through an optimum design.

This is particularly important for gas storage design and horizontal well drilling. Underbalanced drilling is a revolutionary drilling technology used effectively to prevent formation damage, increase penetration rate, allow an early reserve discovery, and better life cycle of the equipment. Three critical issues including well integrity, solid carrying capacity, and BHP control are the major focus in the industry. Our extensive experiences in both stability analysis and underbalanced drilling design, with our in-house fully coupled reservoir-geomechanics model, allow us to serve the industry effectively.
